'Hexensalbe' Eau de Parfum
“In rifleing the closet of the ladie, they found a pipe of oyntement, wherewith she greased a staffe, upon which she ambled and galloped through thick and thin, when and in what manner she listed.”
Hexensalbe (witches' salve) was an ointment used in witchcraft in the Middle Ages. A strong halllucinogenic, the salve would produce sensations of flying and imagery of otherworldly eroticism. Hexensalbe was made with poisonous ingredients and would be fatal if ingested, so it was applied indirectly to soft skin membranes using applicators such as a broom handle – giving us the lasting image of witches flying broomsticks.
Hexensalbe by Stora Skuggan is an homage to witchcraft, with notes of belladonna, hemlock and wormwood evoking dark magic practice and ritual.
